Health and Safety Committee

Committee Objective

Promote the exchange of Health and Safety information among electric utilities to increase effectiveness of safety performance, rules, tools and overall safety culture of the companies.  Member utilities identify best practices through presentations, round table discussions, and data sharing at EUCG workshops.  Current electric utility health and safety practices are discussed for identification of performance improvements and best practices.  Additionally, member utilities develop health and safety products or services to meet the needs of the member utilities.  The committee works to integrate with other EUCG committees bringing timely topics to other forums.

Background

The few existing forums for Health and Safety exchange of information provide limited opportunity for real-time data sharing and best practice identification.  Existing EUCG committees recognize need for health and safety best practice sharing.  Creating the Health and Safety forum enables joint committee/Health and Safety presentations and best practice discussions at EUCG meetings.

Committee Benefits

The EUCG H&S Productivity Committee will provide the following opportunities:
Share quality best practices:
Identify top performers that show opportunity for improvement in both individual business units and Health and Safety program areas.
Provide forums for top performers to share best practices and lessons learned.
Leverage the EUCG Inc. to minimize overall costs.
Future Health and Safety benchmarking:
Develop appropriate performance metrics for data exchange.
Develop and own the methodology, data, and analyses.
Engage an independent 3rd party to administer data collection and a data management system.
Exchange relative S&H benchmark metrics.
